A group of Indian nationals who were recruited by the militants in ISIS ranks have likely been killed in an airstrike in Afghanistan, it has been reported.
According to the Indian officials, reports regarding the killing of four ISIS recruits hailing originally from Kerala have emerged.
The police chief of Kerala Loknath Behera has told reporters that the four individuals along with a child have likely been killed in a drone strike in Afghanistan.
He has cited preliminary reports received by the authorities and added that the reports could not be verified but investigations are underway in this regard.
The individuals had reportedly visited Syria in 2016 in a bid to take part in terrorist related activities in ISIS ranks.
This comes as counter-terrorism operations and airstrikes are underway against the terror group in a number of the provinces of Afghanistan.
The Afghanistanian officials have in the past confirmed the killing of foreign fighters among the ISIS ranks in Afghanistan but they have so far not commented regarding the killing of Indian nationals so far.
Foreign fighters mainly from Pakistan and Central Asian States are actively fighting in ISIS ranks in Afghanistan although reports have also emerged regarding the travel of certain European ISIS fighters to Afghanistan during the recent months.
